HOMOPHOBIC

The accusation "homophobe!" against everyone who states anything negative toward the practice of homosexuality is a demonstration of a broader darkside of human nature. "Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil ..." Isa. 5: 20. The practice of accusing evil of those who are trying to tell the truth is a common and most effective tool of Satan. We can hardly expect that he will not persist in using it.

Homosexuality has always been (Lev. 18: 22), and will continue to be (Rom 2: 24-32) one of the most abominable sins before our God. Human nature has not changed, and we should expect that homosexuals' lust for and abuse of power will not differ from that of Sodom (read Gen. 19, especially verse 9 for an example of calling good evil).

Can we as Christians hold our peace for fear of being accused of some phobia? This tactic is clearly working in our nation today, holding most of our politicians in line. Hopefully it will not contaminate us.

A recent brochure given out by the University of Alabama at their freshmen orientation boldly proclaimed that the "psychologists have identified that the problem is one of homophobia." Homosexuality IS being taught in many public schools at the grade-school level as being a perfectly-acceptable alternative life style. Do we have to wait for the seeds to bear fruit before identifying and countering this evil?

As for homophobia, the only thing we have to fear from homosexuality is participation in it. God will deal with those who persist in this sin as he did with Sodom and Gomorrah. The Christian has no more to fear from the homosexual than he does from murderers, adulterers, liars, drunkards, or those given over to any other sin.

The least of our motivation is fear; the greatest is love. And, out of love we proclaim the truth to those who are engaged in any and all of these sins: do not evangelize your sin! If you have not the will to open your heart to accepting God's truth and conforming your life to it, be satisfied with your lot. But please, do not feel compelled to take the entire world with you!

The bible teaches that there is a special place arranged for the false prophet and the devil that deceived them (Rev. 20: 10). Sodom and Gomorrah were ample demonstration that God is serious. If this language is figurative, it is figurative of something far worse than its literal counterpart.

This we should fear, but no one and nothing else can touch us (Rom. 8: 37-38).
