Despite the fact that evolution has not (and cannot) be proven, it is taught as fact in many of our schools today. Further reinforcement of this is provided by radio, TV, magazines, etc. when the age of the earth is stated with certainty to be at least 4 or 5 billion years old. Why do you suppose that this is stated as fact?
No one has ever observed a new kind of organism evolve from another. Evolutionists claim that there has just not been enough time. At this point they state that it would take several billion years for life as we know it to evolve.
Over the past 400 years the sun has been observed to shrink at a constant rate of 0.1% per year (Physics Today, Vol. 32, No. 17, 1979). This means that the sun would have touched the earth a mere 20 million years ago, and life would have been impossible just 100,000 years ago. Evolutionists ignore that our sun is an exhaustible energy source that could not continue producing its power for 4 or 5 billion years without changing or shrinking.
Nothing seems as popular with the kids today as dinosaurs. The age of their fossilized remains is supposed to be obtained from the age of the strata in which they are found. This assumes the layers of strata were laid down consistently over millions of ears of gradual sedimentation. However, there are numerous cases of tree trunks and other objects which go through two or three separate layers of strata. Did they just stand there for a million or so years while this strata piled up?
Dozens of such clear scientific contradictions to the theory of evolution have had evolutionists arguing since the days of Darwin. But our children never hear about this -- they just get bombarded with myth taught as fact.
Aging techniques are based on the measurement of decay. The bible indicates that there were at least two times when God may have radically altered the rates at which objects in our world decay: after the first sin (Gen. 3:17-18), and as a result of the flood (Gen. 6). Thus, even the most accurate of aging techniques will not work when extrapolated before these events. The flood also offers the most logical explanation for the major part of the fossil record.
These bible study questions provide assistance to you in studying and teaching God's word. The answers are quite clear, and they prove that we can have the same understanding as the apostles had by reading the New Testament (Ephesians 3:4). We challenge you to open your bible and establish the truth.
On The Christian's Persistence
Romans 12:1-2. Should a Christian's life be conformed to this world?
Ephesians 4:22-24; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Should there be a change in your life upon becoming a Christian?
Acts 2:42; Matthew 6:33. Were early Christians characterized by steadfastness in their worship and service to God? Should all Christians have this same steadfastness?
Philippians 2:12. Does Jesus expect you to continue to obey His will?
Hebrews 10:25. Is it right for Christians to forsake assembling together for periods of worship?
2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16. Is it God's will that you study and come to a richer knowledge of His truth?
Romans 12:12. Should prayer be a regular part of your life?
1 Peter 2:1-2. Does the Lord desire for you to grow spiritually?
Hebrews 3:12-14; Revelation 2:10. After becoming a Christian must you remain steadfast unto the end to be eternally saved?
Think about it: Are you trying to please God or to manipulate Him to get your way in this world? (Galatians 6:7)
To those who believe in evolution, and to those who might be tempted by it, look out your window sometime and notice a bird. Watch it for a while. See how it takes off and lands. See how it protects itself and how it goes about its business of survival.
Now, ask yourself: How could this creature have evolved? From what non-flying creature? How many trial take-offs and landings would it have taken to produce the skill of flying? What would have motivated this strange creature to keep attempting these heroic attempts at flight? How many crash landings would it suffer in the meantime? If the first "bird" was a mutant, as most evolutionists claim, how could it protect itself from its enemies while learning to fly? Or did it mutate into a perfectly developed bird? No, there would have had to be two such mutants simultaneously, since this new kind would have to reproduce.
These questions probably sound ridiculous to those of you who use common sense daily. You may not be familiar with radiocarbon dating or the fossil record. You do not have to be. You can see a bird flying perfectly in front of your eyes, and you know that there is no way that such a creature could have evolved from a lizard or any other non-flying organism. It takes far more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe that God created everything in six days, because, "... the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his everlasting power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Rom. 1:20). Read on in Romans 1 and see what sin and degradation follow from willful ignorance.
Editor's note: we recognize that there are many people who believe that the bible allows for God having created all things by means of evolution, and we invite a rebuttal article expressing this viewpoint.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth
But Jesus' teaching on this subject is quite clear (Mt. 5:38-42):
Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Jesus was not teaching cowardice, he was teaching the courage to "fight the good fight of faith" (1 Tim. 6:12). But this is where most people part company with Jesus. Our history as well as the culture of out movies and TV consistently glamorize brute force for resolving conflicts. Our contemporary leaders who espouse passive resistance and peace, from Martin Luther King to Prime Minister Rabin, are consistently sacrificed to the God of violence.
If we use force to coerce spiritual obedience, are we any better than the worst tyrant? Are we willing to follow Jesus and take up our crosses? Christians must support (and should use) the governments which God has established to keep order in this world (Rom. 13; Acts 25:11). However, when rulers bar us from serving God, we must resist (Acts 3-4; 16:37). But there is absolutely no example of Christians taking up arms for this purpose. Christians will place their faith in God as the ruler of the universe and the one who rules over the nations (Rev. 4,5). As one whose "eye is on the sparrow," He will protect us.
