I JUST GOT A SPEEDING TICKET
This is the first one in years. I’m probably due for one.
I got up early this morning. I spent couple of hours meeting on the front porch with Jesus. Then I picked up my 92 year old mother to take her to get her hair done. I did some other lovely things and ministered well to some people.
BUT…Jesus didn’t keep me or exempt me from getting a speeding ticket. I still got one. Does anyone want to guess why? I’ll tell you. I got a speeding ticket because I was speeding.
What did happen is that despite (I don’t have a clue whether the word is inspite of or despite) getting the ticket, it didn’t ruin my day. I was so kind to the policeman and he was actually very kind to me as he politely handed me the citation. God bless him. God is still on the throne. I still love and follow Him. He is still going to meet my needs, even though I just wasted some of His provision.
Stuff happens. Loving Jesus doesn’t keep us from the consequences we cause.
If things like this happen to you just praise the Lord it wasn’t worse and turn the page. Don’t let a disappointing moment ruin the rest of your day, tomorrow, and next week. Let it vanish like a splash from a rock thrown into a lake. Dwell on the goodness of God not what just happened. It will make all the difference. I’m now a proud contributor to the city of Bartlett budget!!!
