THE ORIGINAL “PAY IT FORWARD'“

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God" (II Corinthians 1:3-4).

This is one of my favorite verses in the entire Bible. It is the essence of Christianity. God comforts us so that we can comfort others with that same comfort. God gives us financial blessings so that we can give to others who are in need of financial blessings. God grants us forgiveness so that we can forgive others. God gives us hope so that we can be hope givers to others.

The Lord ALWAYS gives "exceedingly more" than we can imagine or need for ourselves (Ephesians 3:20). Even when He fed the 5,000 with only 2 fish and 5 loaves, there were STILL 12 baskets left over. Talk about putting an exclamation mark on one of the biggest miracles of all time!

God never asks us to give anything to anyone else that He hasn't first given to us. And if I am constantly receiving from Him, there is nothing I am ever going to suffer a shortage of by giving to others. My source never ceases or runs low. All God asks us to do is continually pour back out what He is continuously pouring in.

That excites me, and it ought to excite you.
