HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES

A wise person said, “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.” Another favorite quote of mine is “Opportunities have a very short shelf life.”

People don’t take advantage of great opportunities because they get lucky. They take advantage of great opportunities because they are prepared and actively looking for them. Assignments from God rarely have lead time. They require “divine interruptibility” on our part. Our assignments are generally the person who happens to be standing next to us or sitting beside us.

When you “Abide in Christ” and are filled up with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, God will supernaturally place people in the exact place and at the perfect time to receive a word from Him through you. Preparation for those Divine Appointments is a lifestyle, not a seminary class. When one person is seeking God, God’s eyes are searching the earth to find the nearest believer who is filled with Him and willing to be poured out.

Yes, go on mission trips, but 99% of the people you need to be an ambassador for Christ to are seated in the cubicle next to you or across the table from you. Your responsibility is to seek the presence of God and let Him pour into you every single day. Your desire should be to always be available to pour into someone else what He has just poured into you. God’s responsibility is to find those people who need what He has poured into you and place them in your path. That isn’t happenstance. It is Divine orchestration.

Be prepared. Be willing. Be responsive. FIll up and pour back out all day long every day. Live your life on this continual loop of always being full of Him and always being tuned into the needs of those who are right in front of your face. If you are, you will be overwhelmed by the way God will use you for His glory.
