FIND A FRIEND WHO WILL SIT AROUND AND TALK ABOUT JESUS!

I used to joke and say, “If you don’t have anything good to say about somebody, come and sit next to me.” I actually thought that was cute.

Oh, how God has done a work in my heart! I am reading in Psalm 34 this morning. You would think that the older I have gotten, the more varied my interests would have become.  As it turns out, more and more, there is only one topic I want to talk about. 

The Psalmist says it perfectly: “I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak of His praises. I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart” (Psalm 34:1-2, NLT).

I have narrowed my interests to only one topic. I used to take pride IN how conversationally versatile I was. I used to joke and say I was “bi-spiritual.” I would boast that I go “either direction” with equal ease. in

No longer! I now have a one-track mind, and I am what you might consider to be a one-hit wonder. My conversation is on a continual loop. My interests haven’t grown; they have shrunk. I have one topic that captivates my mind and dominates my speech. “I speak Jesus!”

Do I still want you to come and sit down next to me? Absolutely, I do! The Psalmist had the same desire. He said Psalm 34:3, “Come, let us tell of the LORD‘s greatness; let us exalt His name together.”

I now look for friends who will sit and talk about the LORD’s greatness. Let’s get a big bowl of popcorn and exalt His name together! This is fellowship! This is the best time you could ever have with a friend!
