FRIENDSHIP MATH

My favorite quote from the movie, The Greatest Showman, was when Charity said to P. T., “You don’t need everyone to love you, Phin. Just a few good people.” The Scripture says, “A man of too many friends comes to ruin. But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24, NASB).

If you don’t believe that, then I’ll take another line from a song in the movie: “It will never be enough.”

If you please God, it doesn’t matter whom you displease. The fact is, the more you love God and the more you stand for something, the more people will dislike you. Find the people who love you because you love Jesus. Those people are enough.

Minister to the multitude. Be friends with the few.
