THE DELIGHTS OF DETOURS AND DELAYS
This morning I was reminded of the many closed doors that have crushed my hopes. I was reminded of unissued invitations that made me feel overlooked and unwanted. I was reminded of the detours that frustrated me and the roadblocks that angered me.
When I look back, I am able to see that my ways and plans were leading to something far less than God had for me.
You all know the verse, but do you really believe it? Quote it with me, “‘I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’” Jeremiah 29:11, NLT.
Regardless of what your feelings are screaming to you, God is not blocking you. He is blessing you. Trust God, not the most fickle and deceiving part of your human nature. I have found most of God’s blessings on roads I never would have chosen. He is the Shepherd and Guide. He knows where the treasure is located. It’s on the scenic route, not the fastest route. Can you wait on God’s timing and trust His detour?
