WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING IN YOUR DARKEST HOUR
Are you going through something so deep you feel you're going to drown, and so dark that you can't see your way out? Do you feel like you are just aimlessly wandering without any idea what to do? Do you feel totally depleted and completely empty? Do you wonder where God went?
Look at the very first paragraph of the very first chapter of the very first book of the Bible. "The earth was formless and empty." Does that sound like your life? "Formless"--you are just all over the place, without any plan at all. "Empty"--you have a void in your heart that can't seem to be filled with anyone or anything.
The earth was not only formless and empty, but Genesis 1:2 goes on to say that "darkness covered the deep waters." "Darkness"--you cannot see to find your way. There is just blackness, heaviness, despair. "Deep"--there is nothing to stand on. You cannot tread water anymore. You are at the point of giving up and just drowning.
Where is God? If you had night-vision goggles that could see the invisible you would see that God is actually "hovering" in the darkness right where you are. Put on your "God-goggles." You will see Him. As the old hymn says, "Standing somewhere in the shadows you see Jesus." Genesis 1:2 says, "And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters." He isn't somewhere else. He hasn't forgotten you or forsaken you. He isn't even only passing by. He is "hovering." You think you are alone, when in reality, you are exactly where He is about to perform a miracle. You just can't see Him. But He is there. He has never left you nor forsaken you.
In the beginning of creation up until right now, as always, out of the darkness, God spoke. And when He spoke, He said, "Let there be light." In your darkness, you must know that Jesus is just about to bring your death to life and your darkness to light. John 1:4 says, "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." In your darkest times, lean into Jesus. He is hovering over you right now.
