YOUNG BILLY GRAHAM AND EVEN YOUNGER ADRIAN ROGERS
I read this post from my Facebook memories this morning, and I loved it all over again. I thought you might love it again, too. So here it is:
I found this treasure! This looks like a picture of my father Adrian Rogers, in his early twenties, and Billy Graham in his mid-thirties. When this picture was made made, who knew the full extent of their ministry! Seriously. Who could have known! I don’t know the occasion for this picture or how they even knew each other at that young age. *(Someone has written me saying that when daddy was in college he and some guys loaded up to go hear Billy Graham speak at a boat manufacturing plant between Stuart and Palm Beach, Fl. Can you imagine getting Billy Graham to speak at your boat manufacturing plant??? That is incredible in and of itself).
What I do know is that God is always raising up new men and women who will proclaim His greatness to the next generation. It may be you. It may be your son or daughter.
Things look bleak today. We say, “Where are the men of God who used to speak to this evil generation?” God is not worried or trembling in fear. The Psalmist said in Psalm 2:2-4, “The kings of the earth, prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the LORD and against His anointed One. But the One who rules in heaven laughs. The LORD scoffs at them.”
The next Billy Graham, the next Adrian Rogers, may be a son you are raising right now. Your highest calling is raising that child. It may be a minister in his twenties or thirties you could pray for and support. When I look at this picture, I think of the future impact these two young men would have on the Kingdom of God before their lives were complete. Actually, their impact is still continuing even after God has called them home.
I Timothy 4:12 says, “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, and the way you live, and your love, your faith and your purity.”
