ARMOUR UP!
I’m not the only one who puts on the armor of God each morning—God Himself puts on armor to fight for me. He puts on His armor and He is my armor.
Listen to what David prays in Psalm 35:1–3 (NLT): "O LORD, oppose those who oppose me. Fight those who fight against me. Put on Your armor, and take up Your shield. Prepare for battle, and come to my aid. Lift up Your spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Let me hear You say, ‘I will give you victory!’”
That should stir something in you? It does in me! And here’s what takes my breath away: Every piece of armor described in Ephesians 6—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word—is not just something I put on. The armor is God Himself. It is who HE is!
He is my truth.
He is my righteousness.
He is my peace.
He is my salvation.
He is the Word.
He is the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit.
So when I put on the armor of God, I’m not just dressing for battle…I’m putting on Him. I'm clothing myself with God.
I am protected by Him.
I am surrounded by Him.
I am armed with Him.
Because the armor of God is God Himself, He’s the One facing my enemies. He’s the One defeating them.
So Satan—go ahead and try. You don’t stand a chance. The shield I wear will both stop your arrows and it will also mow you down as I advance.
