GOD IS KNOCKING OUT MY TO-DO LIST FOR ME

The picture with this post is funny. Well, maybe Mike doesn’t think it is. But I am loving this verse: “Each morning I bring my requests to You, and wait expectantly" (Psalm 5:3b, NLT).

And the more that list becomes about what I can do to bring glory to Jesus, the more I am seeing God say, “Hand Me that list.” Lately, He has been taking my list, checking things off in rapid fire, then handing it back to me and saying, “That was easy. What do you need Me to do next?”

Don’t get me wrong. The last thing I’m talking about is giving Him a Christmas wish list or naming it and claiming it. I’m talking about when I go through the hard process of emptying myself of my own selfish desires, and allowing Him to break my strong self-will, THAT'S when He begins to work. And amazingly, He doesn’t just begin to work in the “ultra spiritual” areas.

He is doing it ALL. He is doing things that DON'T even have my fingerprints on them. He is making it easier for me to do things that DO have my fingerprints on them. He is prompting people to do things for me. He is making ticky tacky, nitpicky, common, ordinary tasks fall into place. He is giving me ideas and clarity I couldn't come up with before.

All of this is because I’ve finally stopped giving Him a list that was filled with things I wanted because I thought they would make me feel good, make my life easier, or make money. My new list is motivated by a desire to glorify Him. I stand amazed watching Him say, “ I like that list. Hand that to Me.”

"And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure" (James 4:3, NLT).
