YOUR TEARS

Your tears are magnetic to God. They are a conduit that transmits what is in your spirit. The Psalmist knew this when he said, “The LORD has heard my weeping. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer” (Psalm 6:8b-9).

When you pray with brokenness and sincere tears, you can be certain the ears of the LORD have heard. He will always bend low. He will pick you up and hold you in His arms. You would always do that to your own child. How much more would your Heavenly Father? Don’t confuse a temper tantrum with this kind of weeping. God will hear your temper tantrum as well, but you may not get the exact same response. God is always gentle and kind to those who are brokenhearted. Genuine tears attract God’s tenderness. Let them flow. Never be ashamed of them. Sometimes you just need to be held.

There is a time for public tears and a time for private tears. I believe that public tears of empathy for others are also a conduit through which God’s grace in your spirit travels to minister to the hurt in someone else’s spirit. Your tears can seep through to the inside of someone else’s spirit in a way that words will never be able to penetrate. You don’t have to work them up. When you are you have been broken yourself, your tears will naturally flow out of the broken places of your heart where God has met your needs into the broken places of their heart where you know God will meet their needs. Do not be afraid of your emotions if you are filled with the Holy Spirit. Don’t follow your emotions if you are not filled with the Holy Spirit. They will lead you astray if you are not filled first. Show your emotions to others when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. They are the most effective tools God has given to you to touch others.

Pour out your tears in private to God. He will bandage your wounds when you do. Let your tears seep through in public to others. They are the river of the Holy Spirit flowing through you. Hardened, self-protected people are isolated and separated from others. Vulnerable people are involved and drawn to the hurts and needs of those who need the grace they have themselves experienced.

Psalm 34:17, “The LORD hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
